Film / Video
The following films and videos have been suggested by clients and friends as entertaining, and in their own way, pointing to the principles behind Insight Thinking. If you are a visual learner, you'll enjoy these indirect descriptions of the nature of human functioning.
. The Legend of Bagger Vance
Matt Damon plays a down-and-out golfer who recovers his game and his life with help from a mystical caddy. Points to the fact that we never lose our inherent ability and that if we "listen" deeply we can see what we need to do. Some things can't be learned. They must be remembered.
. The Way of the Peaceful Warrior
Staring Nick Nolte, this film, based on Dan Millman's book and true story, is about the power of the human spirit and the essence of living in the moment and overcoming the limitations of our conditioned thinking.
. Field of Dreams
Kevin Costner, an Iowa corn farmer, hearing voices, interprets them as a command to build a baseball diamond in his fields; he does, and the Chicago Black Sox come. This film is all about listening to wisdom without knowing where it will lead.
. A Beautiful Mind
An adaptation of the true story of the life of John Nash and his ability to wrestle with and overcome the delusional thoughts of schizophrenia. Great example of how seeing it is our thoughts allows to choose not to act on them.
. What Dreams May Come
Chris Neilson dies to find himself in a heaven more amazing than he could have ever dreamed of. Staring Robin Williams, it captures the essence of how thought creates reality and how our minds make up whole worlds from the inside out.
. Boundin'
A short, animated film by Pixar, about a dancing lamb who gets sheared and becomes insecure. A Jackalope comes by and shares the insight that resilience is a state of mind.
. TED Presentation: Jill Bolte Taylor's Stroke of Insight
Amazing clip of Jill's talk on what she discovered about life and the mind as a result of a massive stroke. An enlightening perspective on what it means to be human, where reality comes from and our innate capacity to know and be connected. http://www.ted.com/talks/lang/eng/jill_bolte_taylor_s_powerful_stroke_of_insight.html
